No task today. Just a chance to breathe.
Three days in, you’ve already set up your holiday planning binder, mapped out your calendar, and gotten your family’s Christmas wishlists started. That’s three real, concrete things done before most people have even started thinking about the holidays. Today isn’t about adding another task to the list β it’s about pausing before the season really picks up speed.
Before the Season Gets Moving
Take five quiet minutes with this question: What kind of holiday season do you actually want this year?
Not what you think you should want. Not what worked (or didn’t) last year. Just β if you could wave a wand, what would this season actually feel like?

A few gentle prompts to help, if you want them:
- One word for how you want to feel on Christmas morning
- One thing from last year you’d love to do differently
- One thing from last year you want to keep exactly the same
There’s no wrong answer here, and no pressure to have it all figured out. Just sit with it for a few minutes. If it helps, jot your answers in the margin of your binder so you can come back to them later in the season β sometimes it’s worth checking back in December to see if you actually got the season you were hoping for.
Just for Today
Make some tea. Read a few pages of something. Sit somewhere cozy and let your mind wander. Whatever “taking care of yourself” looks like in your world today, that’s the assignment β nothing more.
