Halloween week tends to be one of those beautiful kinds of chaos — full of school parties, last-minute costumes, sugar highs, and the general feeling that life is running a little faster than usual.

So instead of adding more to your plate, I’m doing something different this week.

I’m signing off for the Halloween stretch — no new tasks, no big goals, and definitely no extra planning. Just time for fun, family, and whatever cozy chaos comes your way.

I’ll be back on November 1st, ready to jump into the next part of the challenge refreshed (and definitely still snacking on my kidsHalloween candy).

Before I go, let’s keep up our weekly tradition — a little time just for you.

Self-Care Sundays are a weekly series inside the challenge — a playful spin on the four-gift Christmas list (“something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read”).
But instead of shopping for others, we use it here to give yourself a small gift each week: something to read, make, wear, and do for fun — plus a little something to remember.

Here’s my list for this Self-Care Sunday — small, comforting ways to enjoy a Cozy Halloween Weekend.

📚 Something to Read

Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman

Every October, I find myself coming back to this one. Practical Magic is the ultimate cozy Halloween read — witchy without being dark, full of heart, sisterhood, and a touch of everyday magic.

It’s the perfect story to curl up with after the trick-or-treat candy has been sorted and the house finally quiets down. Just a few pages, a warm drink, and that little reminder that magic often hides in the simplest moments.

Something to Make

If you do nothing else this weekend, make something warm.

Pour a mug of apple cider, heat up a pot on the stove with a few cinnamon sticks, or make a simple fall latte.
The goal isn’t to create a Pinterest-worthy recipe — it’s to fill your kitchen with comfort.

Sometimes the smell of warm spices is all it takes to make the weekend feel like a deep breath.

🧣 Something to Wear

This weekend, my costume is cozy.

Whether it’s Halloween pajamas, fuzzy socks, or your softest sweatshirt — wear what makes you feel like you’re taking a break.
Bonus points if it involves candy and zero guilt.

🔮 Something for Fun

Try a simple one-card tarot pull — it’s one of my favorite calming rituals for this time of year.

If you’ve never had a tarot reading before, think of it less as fortune-telling and more like a reflective tool — kind of like journaling with prompts. Each card has symbolic artwork that represents ideas, emotions, or lessons, and pulling one is simply a way to pause and ask, “What do I most need to hear right now?”

You can do this yourself or have someone else pull a card for you. If you’d like a thoughtful, intuitive reading, I love using readings from an Etsy shop called Murupuu. Niu has always given me thoughtful and insghtful readings that always seem to resonate. Find her one-card pulls here and they come with a short, heartfelt interpretation — always warm, always encouraging, and never spooky or heavy.

If you have your own deck, shuffle with this question in mind:

“What do I most need to focus on as I head into November?”

Pull one card and take a moment to reflect. Maybe it reminds you to slow down, trust yourself, or bring more joy into the days ahead. There’s no wrong answer — just a quiet moment of perspective before we move into the next month.

This isn’t about predicting the future — it’s about grounding yourself in the present and listening to your intuition.

💭 Something to Remember

Let this be your reminder that you don’t have to do more to feel magical.
The real magic is in how you care for yourself and the people you love.
